Direct Route Security Policy
You may have heard
stories about the lack of security on the internet. Technologies have advanced
greatly over the last few years, so that transactions online are more secure
than those made through traditional methods, such as the telephone. Direct Route
takes your concerns seriously, so please read on for details of the provisions
we have in place to make your online transactions with us safe and secure
Direct Route Security Software
Direct Route uses modern Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology on all webpages
that contain your personal information. SSL works by encrypting all confidential
data so that it cannot be understood by anyone except Direct Route.
The information you input is "translated" into extremely detailed
code, making it meaningless to anyone looking at it. Your data is encrypted
before it leaves your computer and is only retranslated when it reaches the
secure server of Secpay who work in conjunction with Barclays Bank PLC to
process the transaction. This means that no-one will be able to read this
information as it is broadcast across the internet. So even if someone were
able to monitor the flow of information between you and the secure server they
would not be able to open it, read it, download it, understand or translate it.
Credit/Debit card numbers are
automatically encrypted:
You can easily see when SSL is
being used on Direct Route- Whenever you are undertaking a secure credit
card transaction you will see a solid padlock in your browser status bar. The
padlock tells you that you have been transferred to a completely separate secure
form.
Direct Route in association with Verisign
As confirmation that Direct Route uses secure technology and that it is safe to
transact with us, Direct Route uses Verisign. Verisign are globally
recognized as indicators of safe sites on the internet. They act as third party
verification on the security and safety of Direct Route.
